Powering Youth – Argentinian Partnership Launched

More than 45 teachers from 15 schools in Chubut Province, Argentina, participated in the first training at the Pampa Azul Ecocenter in Puerto Madryn to launch our newest capacity building partnership: the YouthEnergy project.

This project aims to empower young people to be the drivers of a just and sustainable energy transition in Argentina. In the provinces of Chubut, Neuquén and Mendoza, 24 technical secondary schools will participate in this initiative. It will include teacher training on topics such as climate change and energy transition, the provision of teaching kits to facilitate experimental activities in the classroom, and the installation of technology related to hybrid renewable energy (wind and solar). A special focus will be on addressing gender inequalities in energy transitions and strengthening young people’s capacity to actively participate in public discourse.

The first training was led by guest lecturers from the Office for Climate Education (OCE) who presented didactic methods such as experiments, social simulations and discussions on gender-sensitive approaches to the greenhouse effect, the impacts of global warming on oceans, cryospheres and soils, and the implications for human development.

The YouthEnergy project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) under the IKI – International Climate Initiative, co-financed by WISIONS and implemented in close cooperation with our partners 500RPM and the Siemens Argentina Foundation.
