Hydroelectric Power

Running water has been a source of energy for thousands of years. Hydroelectric plants convert this energy into electricity. Hydropower technologies are available for a broad range of capacities, ranging from tens of watts up to several hundred megawatts. Micro-Hydro plants (with power capacities below 100 kW) are one of the preferred options for providing electricity to villages that are not connected to the grid.

The Technology Radar offers specific information on micro-hydroelectric power (follow the link on the right). This article provides general information on hydroelectric technologies.
