Building Skills for a Sustainable Future in Rural Argentina
Following the successful implementations in Neuquén and Mendoza, a new solar-wind hybrid system has now been installed in the city of Trelew, Chubut in Argentia. The system was constructed over four days by 6th- and 7th-year students from Technical School No. 748 (formerly ENET). The installation itself will be carried out on the school premises.
At the heart of the project is the construction of a Pivot wind turbine, an open-patent technology specifically designed for ease of replication. The turbine will serve an educational purpose and be used for demonstrations, enabling more students and teachers to learn about its construction and installation.
Due to its urban location and the presence of turbulent winds, the final system will have a limited capacity. Nonetheless, it will be capable of supplying a small rural home with essential energy needs, such as lighting and refrigeration. The addition of solar panels will complete the hybrid system, enhancing its capacity and promoting new opportunities for energy self-sufficiency in rural communities.
This installation is part of our YouthEnergy project, which aims to train young people in renewable energy technologies, preparing them for a future where sustainability and energy self-sufficiency are essential. Collaborating with Technical School No. 748 provides students not only with hands-on technical training but also the opportunity to be part of a change in how energy is produced and consumed in rural communities in Argentina.
Through this project, we are helping to train the next generation of renewable energy technicians and specialists, who will be able to share and replicate this knowledge within their own communities, fostering a more sustainable and resilient future.
