Regional Partnerships and Networks
“Facilitating knowledge development and sharing among local practitioners”
Regional practitioner networks are a key element of the WISIONS initiative. A central finding from the project support provided by WISIONS is that local capacity-building is crucial for ensuring the success and sustainability of sustainable energy projects.
WISIONS fosters regional partnerships and practitioner networks to facilitate knowledge development and sharing between practitioners and stakeholders and to induce the broader dissemination of decentralised renewable energy solutions.
Four practitioner networks have been founded and consolidated:
• RedBioLAC (Latin America and the Caribbean) and RedBioCOL (Colombia), both focusing on biogas.
• Hydro Empowerment Network, focused on community micro-hydropower in South and Southeast Asia.
• Wind Empowerment, focused on small-scale wind technologies and with a global scope.
These networks actively involve approximately 300 organisations who share a long-standing commitment to people-centred sustainable energy solutions. The key elements, objectives and activities of the four networks are described in our brochure Energy Practitioner Networks.
WISIONS-supported regional partnerships and networks accelerate the sustainable energy transition in the global South by facilitating face-to-face gatherings and the online exchange of experiences, as well as by supporting thematic collaborations, capacity-building, joint projects and other exchange activities.
WISIONS networks are coordinated by partner organisations located in the regions.
