Meet the WISIONS team at the conference „Energy and Water solutions in sub-Saharan Africa" at Lake Constance, Germany

The WISIONS team will be participating in the conference “Energy and Water solutions in sub-Saharan Africa“, which will take place on 16 – 17 October 2014 in Radolfzell at Lake Constance, Germany.

Today, 1.3 billion people worldwide are living without access to electric grid-based energy. In Africa alone, about 70% of the total population relies on fossil fuel based systems for lighting such as kerosene lamps and diesel generators. Rural areas of developing countries without a proper grid access also often lack access to other basic needs such as potable water and educational opportunities.

Against this background, the WISIONS team will present a keynote lecture on “Decentralised solutions for renewable energies and water in developing countries”. The conference is being organized in the framework of the project “Solar Energy for rural Kenya” supported by the European Union. This project emerged from one of the projects supported by SEPS, which aimed to replace kerosene lights for night fishing by introducing energy hubs to power sustainable lighting systems at Lake Victoria, Kenya.
