Exchange: A Country Level Market Assessment for Small Wind Turbines

By loading the map you accept the privacy policy of Google.

This project aims aims to support small wind turbine technology in Nepal by conducting a detailed national market assessment for small wind turbines and consolidating existing experience in the development and implementation of small wind turbines in the country.

Although there is the potential for wind power in Nepal, the lack of technical standards and guidelines, combined with weak policies and regulations and gaps in government subsidies for wind energy, explain the slow growth rate of this renewable solution in the country. This project, therefore, aims to support small wind turbine technology in Nepal by conducting a detailed national market assessment for small wind turbines and consolidating existing experience in the development and implementation of small wind turbines in the country. The market assessment will provide information about the viability of wind technology in different regions across Nepal. These findings and the lessons learned from existing experiences of small wind turbines in Nepal will offer a sound basis for policy and investment decisions on small wind deployment and, consequently, should contribute to the more rapid expansion of the technology in Nepal.
